LOAD

Electrical Load Calculator for Home (kW and Amps)

Add up appliance wattage to find connected load in kW, estimated demand and current. A planning aid for electricians and home owners.

Connected load is the sum of every appliance's rated watts. Not everything runs at once, so the estimated demand applies a simultaneous-use percentage, which is a judgement: raise it for shops or homes with heavy loads. Current = watts ÷ voltage, assuming a power factor of 1 on a single-phase supply. This is an estimate for planning; sanctioned load, cable sizes and protection must be decided by a licensed electrician under your DISCOM's rules and IS 732.

How it’s calculated

Connected load = Σ(watts × quantity); current = watts ÷ voltage

Example: 4,350 W connected × 60% = 2.61 kW demand ≈ 11.3 A at 230 V.

Questions

Is this my sanctioned load?+

No. Sanctioned load is decided by your electricity distribution company. Use this as a planning estimate with a licensed electrician.
