PUTTY
Wall Putty Calculator: Kg and Bags Needed
Calculate wall putty in kg from the area and the coverage printed on the bag, with the right mix of 40, 20, 5 and 1 kg bags.
Assumptions used EDIT ▾
A 7 × 3 ft door is 21 sq ft.
A 4 × 4 ft window is 16 sq ft.
Wall area = 2 × (length + width) × height, for each room, minus openings. Quantity = area × coats ÷ coverage, plus wastage. Coverage varies with the product, surface texture and how absorbent the wall is, so the figure on your tin or bag is the one to use.
WALL PUTTY NEEDED
35.3kg
Buy: 1 × 20 kg + 3 × 5 kg + 1 × 1 kg
- Area to cover
- 403 sq ft
How it’s calculated
Kg = area ÷ coverage (sq ft per kg for 2 coats), plus wastage
Example: 400 sq ft ÷ 12 sq ft/kg + 5% = 35 kg → 1 × 20 kg + 3 × 5 kg.
